Caviar, vodka, and windows that look out at the Kremlin: Alexander Rappoport's restaurant at National Hotel has been whisking guests away on its troika since 2017. But a couple of years ago, they unveiled the Bargeman's Breakfast — and the likes started rolling in. People bring their favorite colleagues and out-of-town guests, racking up views on social media and in news feeds. A kilogram of black caviar, a liter of vodka or a magnum of sparkling wine, and a tray of delicacies — zhimchiki, pickles, hard-boiled eggs with scallops — at a price so hefty it's become the luxury equivalent of the Olivier Index. The main menu is an interpretation of the «„national treasure“» genre: Nizhny Novgorod duck, Murmansk trout, Black Sea rapa whelks, and in the Ivan Susanin set — products from Kostroma.
