This White Rabbit Family seafood restaurant (Ikra, Krasota, Ayu, and others) on Bolshaya Nikitskaya could have been the set for The Great, a phantasmagoria about Catherine the Great — both share the same luxurious setting. The building was constructed by Count Vladimir Orlov, brother of the empress's favorite. Golden floors, chandeliers dripping with crystal and pearls, a kitchen running rigorous casting calls for oysters and crabs, and tables laden with black cod tail, tuna with black currant, and scallops with morels. The Pushkin narrative, established from the entrance, is reinforced by mermaids on branches along the walls and cocktails: the Golden Cockerel with sagan-daylya, the Tsar Saltan with amaretto. They also tell Gvidon's Tales — the name for their series of wine-pairing dinners.
